One of the tools that Maranatha Chrisitan Academy recommends for student and families is the Explora Online Database. While this tool is available for all Kansas State Residents and provides extensive tools to assist all students in the state they allow the saving of data by students for future reference on Explora. This is certainly not required and is a benefit.
We want all the staff, students, and families at MCA to know its privacy compliance in order to best inform decisions regarding its use. Its privacy protection and commitment is consistent with industry standards and meets our expectations for use. From Explora's own site:
Yes. All versions of Explora comply fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). COPPA imposes restrictions on how websites collect information from children 13 and under. The key goals of COPPA are to place parents in control over what information is collected from their children online and to protect children while recognizing the dynamic nature of the Internet. Students are never asked for their last names or email addresses when they create personal accounts in Explora.
